Another topic that revolves round sex, but I been wondering whether man was meant by nature to have a single partner thru out his/her life or is it a peaceful social norm that we have developed to avoid further wars. Give me your honest views. Would YOU like to sleep with the same woman/man throughout your life, or, would you let yourselves slip up once in a life time to explore variety?

I think man is Polygamous by nature like most of the animals.

I don't have a rich knowledge of history but i believe some of myths portray a King/God to have multiple spouses..what was the reason we decided to change to single partner?? I think it has to do with conflicts..offcourse if one man is getting all the good ladies out there others are gonna protest about it..Secondly, when we think of a person sleeping with multiple partners..its not considered as chaste these days..

used to happen that way too in the older times
afterall, man is also an animal just like any other animal & they r all polygamous too, rn't they?

but man is a more developed animal
& he wanted some rules/social norms & such stuff
there's a saying in Urdu...i can't remember it fully so won't make a complete ass of myself here
but it says that the root reason for any conflict can b only 3 things: women, land & money (or something similar, so sorry i've forgotten...the words used in Urdu are 'Zar, Zameen aur ..' , forgot the last word)

anyways, lots of conflict used to happen in earlier days
that is why man being a social animal had to figure out a way to solve them
women were the reason for the most petty fights, so over time they kinda tried to make monogamy a social norm
but it was never really meant to be so
& that is why men/women get bored of their partners after sometime
& as KP said in another topic, they have to watch crappy TV programs abt what'll spice things up

Hehe King, the third Z is for ZORU (wife). Yeah I think Humans are polygamous by nature so phidelity must be a pardonable sin. lol.

however, with the existing social norms, our mindsets r such, we find it very hard to accept it
anyways, if both partners feel they have to be monogamous, i guess then they shld stick to their commitments

by nature, its variety, the ultimate goal of any species is to reproduce... so its the dudes job to try to as much as possible... basic instinct
