Something to ponder over, use your grey cells and tell the right answer (with logic) to win reps!
http://www.bagthatpic.com/image.php?id=mysterioustud/puz.jpg Tell the correct value of "??" in the above picture. Ok i know after watching KBC, all u guys are used to "OPTIONS". So here r ur options: 0. 28 1. 29 2. 30 3. 31 4. 32 5. 33 6. 34 7. 35 8. 36 9. If u think none of above, give ur own answer! Mr. Bachchan gives just 4 but im giving u 10 options guys, but no LIFELINES!! Correct answer (along with the logic, not just tukka) wins reps from ME!! So get going guys, ALL THE BEST!! Concept of cross multiplication (of first 2 rows) suggests the answer should be 34...

The answer is "34"
Here goes my explaination, I hope you all understand my logic. For the sake of easy understanding I have modified the question picture. ![]() Now as you can see I have given the rows and columns a name, so that I can reference them for explaination. To understand how the answer comes to 34, we need to understand the logic behind it. As you carefully observe the last row, has values 35, 16, 1125. These numbers are multiples of 5 or 2. So Aiii = 35 which is 7 x 5 (Multiple of 5) Biii = 16 which is 2 x 8 (Multiple of 2) OR in other words, the 2nd row values are factor of 2 or 5. 7 = 35/5 and 8 = 16/2. ![]() So far so good, this is what I believe everyone has already figured out. But what about 1125 which is in Ciii. Now to answer this we need to modify the picture a little bit. We club column A & B as shown in the image. ![]() As mentioned earlier 1125 is a multiple of 5, hence 1125/5 = 225. Now 225 = 25 * 45. 45 = 9 * 5. Hence everything is a multipe of 5. Hence the formula ABi x (Cii x Di) = 25 x (9 x 5) = 1125. Over here in the 2nd row 9 comes from 45, which is a multiple of 5. So till now we have seen in the entire puzzle each and every number is a multiple of either 2 or 5, be it in row 2 or 3. Now we don't know the answer of the Diii but we know Dii which is 17 = x/2, hence x = 17*2 = 34 which is also present in the option. ![]() Hence proved. I might be wrong with this logic, if so please correct me. |

Ok i think now time for the solution/logic...
ANSWER: 34 In each column, the middle number divided by the top number yields the bottom number; the decimal point is removed from the answer. Therefore, 7/2=35(3.5), 8/5=16(1.6), 9/8=1125(1.125), and 17/5=34(3.4). Hope it satisfies all...now since tiggy came closest to answering, reps to him once again! |
