NIRVANA is the band that exploded into the mainstream, bringing along with it a subgenre of alternative rock called "grunge". Kurt Cobain, the lead singer of the band was often refered to as the "spokesperson of a generation" and NIRAVANA as the "flag ship band" of Generation X. Nirvana's brief run ended with the death of Cobain in 1994, but the band's popularity expanded in the years that followed. Before he departed, Cobain has already placed himself among the legend.
Here is thier first successful album Nevermind(1991), now regarded widely as a classic. Nevermind catapulted Nirvana from relative obscurity to the heights of commercial and critical success virtually overnight. It radically altered the musical landscape, shifting the focus away from the hair metal of the 1980s, and giving rise to the Seattle, Washington-based grunge movement which dominated the first few years of the 1990s. Nevermind reached #1 on Billboard Music Chart's Top 200 albums and the Heatseekers chart. It was voted as the best album of the year in The Village Voice Pazz & Jop critics poll. In 2004, it was one of 50 recordings chosen that year by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry. Nevermind was listed #17 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, despite only getting three stars out of five when this magazine reviewed it originally in 1991. Nevermind was certified gold and platinum by the RIAA on November 27, 1991. Songlist 1. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (Cobain/Grohl/Novoselic) – 5:02 2. "In Bloom" (Cobain/Nirvana) – 4:15 3. "Come as You Are" (Cobain) – 3:39 4. "Breed" (Cobain/Nirvana) – 3:04 5. "Lithium" (Cobain) – 4:17 6. "Polly" (Cobain/Nirvana) – 2:56 7. "Territorial Pissings" (Cobain/Nirvana) – 2:23 8. "Drain You" (Cobain/Nirvana) – 3:44 9. "Lounge Act" (Cobain/Nirvana) – 2:37 10. "Stay Away" (Cobain/Nirvana) – 3:33 11. "On a Plain" (Cobain/Nirvana) – 3:17 12. "Something In The Way" (Cobain/Nirvana) – 3:50 Download link Nevermind Njoy This post has been edited by rainmaker: Oct 22 2006, 01:23 PM |

Dream Theater is a progressive metal band formed in Boston, Massachusetts by three students at the Berklee College of Music in 1985. In the 21 years since their inception, they have become one of the most commercially successful progressive bands since the height of progressive rock in the mid-1970s, despite being relatively unknown in mainstream pop/rock circles.
Here is one of my favourite works for Dream Theater, A Change of Season, released in 1995 Song List 1. "A Change Of Seasons" – 23:06 (music by Dream Theater, lyrics by Portnoy) 1. "The Crimson Sunrise [instrumental]" 2. "Innocence" 3. "Carpe Diem" 4. "The Darkest of Winters [instrumental]" 5. "Another World" 6. "The Inevitable Summer [instrumental]" 7. "The Crimson Sunset" 2. "Funeral For A Friend / Love Lies Bleeding" – 10:49 (Elton John) 3. "Perfect Strangers" – 5:33 (Deep Purple) 4. "The Rover / Achilles Last Stand / The Song Remains The Same" – 7:28 (Led Zeppelin) 5. "The Big Medley" – 10:34 (contains excerpts of "In the Flesh?" by Pink Floyd, "Carry On Wayward Son" by Kansas, "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen, "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" by Journey, "Cruise Control" by Dixie Dregs and "Turn It On Again" by Genesis) Uploading in two parts Links A Change of Seasons Part 1 A Change of Seasons Part 2 Njoy This post has been edited by rainmaker: Oct 23 2006, 02:24 PM |

While most bands undergo a number of changes over the course of their career, few groups experienced such radical stylistic changes as Fleetwood Mac. Initially conceived as a hard-edged British blues combo in the late '60s, the band gradually evolved into a polished pop/rock act over the course of a decade.Fleetwood over the years saw a number of people come and go, the most successful were the combination of drummer Mick Fleetwood, bassist John McVie along with the soft-rock duo Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.
Presenting for you, Rumours. Released in the spring of 1977, Rumours became a blockbuster success selling in excess of 17 million copies in the US alone, making it the second biggest-selling album of all-time. Tracks: 01 Second Hand News 02 Dreams 03 Never Going Back Again 04 Don't Stop 05 Go Your Own Way 06 Songbird 07 The Chain 08 You Make Loving Fun 09 I Don't Want to Know 10 Oh Daddy 11 Gold Dust Woman Link Rumours Njoy This post has been edited by rainmaker: Oct 24 2006, 10:02 AM |
